Free written estimates across Toronto and the GTA

Terms at a glance

  • Estimates are free and are based on what we can see at the walkthrough. They are valid for 30 days and are revised if the scope changes.
  • Scheduling depends on weather, building access and prior jobs. Exterior work is weather dependent and dates can move.
  • Submitting a form or calling us means you agree we can contact you by phone, SMS or email about your enquiry.
  • Any workmanship warranty is set out in your written quote, job by job. We do not offer a blanket guarantee.

These Terms of Service govern your use of painttoronto.ca and any request you make for painting services through this website, by phone, by SMS or by email.

By using this website or requesting service from us, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site or request service.

1. Who we are

Paint Toronto is a painting contractor serving Toronto and the surrounding Greater Toronto Area. In these Terms, we, us and our refer to Paint Toronto, and you and your refer to the person or business requesting or receiving services.

  • Website: painttoronto.ca
  • Phone: (365) 361-5154
  • Email: info@painttoronto.ca
  • Mailing address: 421 Bloor Street E, Toronto, ON M4W 3T1

2. Services

We provide the following painting and related services:

  • Interior painting of walls, ceilings, trim, doors and closets
  • Exterior painting of siding, stucco, brick, soffit, fascia and trim
  • Condominium suite painting
  • Commercial and industrial painting
  • Kitchen cabinet painting
  • Ceiling painting and popcorn or stipple ceiling removal
  • Drywall and plaster repair
  • Wallpaper installation and removal
  • Spray application, deck and fence coating

Service availability depends on location, season, building access and the condition of the surfaces to be painted. Exterior coatings require suitable surface temperatures and dry conditions, so exterior work is limited to the period when those conditions can be met. We reserve the right to decline, cancel or reschedule work where conditions are unsafe, where a surface is not suitable for coating, or where the scope differs materially from what was quoted. Painting is a finishing trade and it does not correct structural, moisture or substrate problems. Where we identify such a problem we will tell you, and we will not coat over an active leak or a failing substrate.

3. Contact consent

When you submit a form on this website, call us, or send us an email or text message, you consent to us contacting you by phone, SMS or email. We may contact you to:

  • Ask questions needed to prepare an estimate
  • Arrange or confirm a walkthrough
  • Send you a written quote
  • Confirm, change or follow up on a scheduled date
  • Discuss something found on site that affects the work or the price
  • Send an invoice or a payment reminder

Standard message and data rates may apply to SMS. You can opt out of any contact method at any time by telling us, and we will use another one.

4. Quotes and estimates

Estimates are free and are prepared as a written scope that names the surfaces, the number of coats, the products and the preparation included. They are based on the surfaces and conditions visible at the time of the walkthrough.

Prices published on this website and produced by the cost calculator are researched ranges for planning purposes only. They are not quotes and they do not bind either party. Your written quote is the price that governs the work.

Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued. We may revise a quote where the scope changes, where additional surfaces are added, or where conditions found after work begins were not reasonably visible at the walkthrough, such as failed plaster behind a sound-looking wall, rot beneath a painted surface, or moisture behind a finished basement wall. Any revision is communicated to you and agreed before the additional work proceeds. Unless stated otherwise, prices are quoted before HST.

5. On-site assessment and scheduling

We carry out an on-site walkthrough before issuing a final price on any job of meaningful size, because substrate, preparation and access are what determine the cost and none of them can be assessed remotely.

Scheduled dates are a realistic estimate and can be affected by weather, traffic, building access arrangements, the duration of prior jobs and crew availability. Exterior work in particular is weather dependent, and we will move a date rather than apply a coating in unsuitable conditions. We will keep you informed of any change as early as we can.

6. Customer responsibilities

To allow us to work safely and to the quoted scope, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about the property, the surfaces and the work required
  • Provide safe and clear access to the work area at the agreed times, including parking and, in a condominium, any required building access arrangements
  • Disclose known pre-existing issues, including leaks, mould, asbestos-containing materials, previous coating failures and structural problems
  • Remove or identify valuable, fragile or irreplaceable items before work begins
  • Keep pets and children clear of the work area, tools, materials and wet coatings
  • Confirm colour and sheen selections before the order is placed

7. Materials and property

Unless the quote says otherwise, we supply all materials, and the products named in the quote are the products used. If a named product is unavailable we will substitute an equivalent and tell you.

We take reasonable care to protect your property, including moving and covering contents, masking floors and protecting fixtures and common areas. Some surfaces cannot be made entirely risk free: aged plaster can fail when disturbed, previously painted trim can lift when tape is removed, and old wallpaper can take the face of the wall board with it. Where we identify such a risk we will tell you before proceeding.

Textured and popcorn ceilings installed before approximately 1990 may contain asbestos. We will not disturb such a ceiling without a laboratory test result. Where a test is positive, removal becomes abatement work which is outside the scope of an ordinary painting quote and is priced separately.

8. Payment terms

Payment terms, including any deposit, are set out in your written quote and confirmed at booking. Larger projects may require a deposit before materials are ordered or the crew is scheduled. Final payment is due on completion, after the walkthrough, unless your quote states otherwise. Accepted payment methods are communicated at booking. Accounts not settled by the due date may be subject to interest as stated on the invoice.

9. Cancellations and rescheduling

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as you can, and at least two business days where possible, so the slot can be reallocated. A deposit may be non-refundable to the extent that materials have already been ordered, tinted or opened, or where a booked date cannot be refilled at short notice.

We reserve the right to reschedule for weather, for safety, for building access refusal, or for an emergency. Where we reschedule, we will offer the earliest workable alternative date.

10. Project photos and testimonials

Testimonials on this website are genuine and are published with the permission of the people who gave them. Project photographs, where used, show work conditions and finishes of the type described. Results shown or described are not a guarantee that the same result will be achieved on a different property, because substrate, exposure and existing condition differ in every case. We will ask before photographing your property, and you can decline.

11. Warranties and limitations

Any workmanship warranty is set out in your written quote, job by job. We do not offer a blanket guarantee, because the reasonable expectation for a coating differs completely between new drywall in a heated interior and ninety-year-old timber on a south-facing exterior elevation.

No warranty covers:

  • Normal wear, fading, marking or soiling over time
  • Failure caused by moisture, leaks, structural movement or substrate problems not disclosed or not reasonably visible at the walkthrough
  • Damage caused by others, by impact, or by cleaning methods unsuitable for the finish
  • Coatings applied over an existing finish at your request against our written recommendation
  • Surfaces we advised should be repaired or replaced rather than painted

Manufacturer product warranties, where they exist, are provided by the manufacturer directly and are subject to the manufacturer's own terms.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of or relating to our services or your use of this website, including loss of income, loss of use or loss of opportunity. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability in connection with any service is limited to the amount you paid us for that specific service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
