A written scope
Surfaces named, coats counted, products listed. You can hold two quotes side by side and see the difference.
Protection as standard
Contents moved and wrapped, floors masked, fixtures covered. Not an extra line on the invoice.
Terms in writing
Any workmanship warranty is set out in your written quote, job by job, for that substrate and that exposure.
How Paint Toronto groups its painting services
Each service page answers the same three questions in the same order: what the work actually involves, what changes the price, and what it costs in Toronto right now. The price ranges come from published 2026 Toronto price guides and are stated before HST, so they line up with what you will see quoted elsewhere in the city.
Services are split by substrate rather than by room, because substrate is what decides the product and the prep. Plaster, drywall, aluminum siding, stucco, brick, MDF cabinet doors and pressure-treated deck boards each need a different primer and a different approach, and putting them on one generic page would hide the part that matters.
Choosing between painting services that sound similar
Ceiling painting and popcorn ceiling removal are not the same job. Painting a textured ceiling leaves the texture; removal takes it off and skims the surface smooth, which is drywall finishing work with paint at the end. Removal costs several times more and, on anything installed before roughly 1990, starts with an asbestos test rather than a scraper.
Spray painting is a method rather than a surface. It appears as its own service because an empty room, a stairwell railing or a warehouse deck sprayed properly needs different masking and different equipment than brush and roller work, and that changes both the schedule and the price.
Brick painting and siding painting are separated for the same reason. Brick that still needs to release moisture takes a breathable mineral coating; chalked aluminum siding takes a wash and a bonding primer. Using the wrong one is the most common cause of an exterior job failing inside three years.
What a published painting range cannot tell you
No service page can tell you what your job costs, and any page that claims to is guessing. The published ranges are researched Toronto figures that describe the market, and they are genuinely useful for planning. They cannot see the plaster behind your wallpaper, the moisture path behind your basement drywall, the twenty-foot foyer that needs staging, or the fact that your building restricts contractor hours to weekday afternoons.
Those four things are, in our experience, what actually separates a quote from the range it started at. The walkthrough exists to find them before the crew is committed rather than after.
Painting work we do not take on
We are painters, and there are adjacent trades we will not pretend to cover. Repointing mortar joints is masonry work and it comes before any brick coating. Replacing rotten soffit, fascia or trim is carpentry and it comes before any exterior repaint of those surfaces. Asbestos abatement, where a ceiling texture tests positive, is a regulated specialty with its own procedures. Roofing, stucco application and drywall installation from scratch are all separate trades.
Where a job needs one of those first, we say so at the estimate and quote the painting work that follows it, rather than taking a deposit for work that cannot succeed yet.
